Administrative Assistant
The City of Jonesville is currently accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant.  The ideal candidate would thrive in a team-oriented environment and have experience in offering outstanding customer service.  Work takes place in a fast-paced environment and requires an individual who can multi-task and manage competing deadlines.

This position is under the direction of the City Manager.  Essential functions of the job include providing clerical support to the City Manager, including drafting reports, agendas, and communications; processing payroll; maintenance of confidential personnel files and managing benefits plans; and answering telephone calls and assisting customers.  The successful candidate will also provide support in other municipal office operations, including research, project tracking, utility billing, voter rolls, and processing tax and other payments.  Strong analytical, computer, writing and speaking skills are required.

The position is full time, with occasional morning or evening hours.  A comprehensive benefits package is provided.  The salary range for the position is $16.57 to $21.63 per hour; starting pay depends upon qualifications.  Applications will be received through December 11, 2019.

A high school diploma is required.  Graduation from a college or university with a degree in business or a related field is preferred.  A minimum of three years of experience in a related field is required.  Government experience is a plus.

Full-Time Police Officer AND Part-Time Police Officer
The City of Jonesville is seeking positive, self-motivated, conscientious individuals to serve as police officers. The City has immediate openings for one full-time officer and one part-time officer.  These shift work positions are responsible for providing police services to the residents of the City of Jonesville, performing a wide variety of law enforcement/community activities.

Successful candidates must be MCOLES certifiable, a high school graduate, and possess a valid Michigan driver’s license. Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field is preferred. Testing consists of written exam, oral interview, background investigation, physical examination, including drug screen.

These positions are well suited for new officers as well as police officers with previous experience who want to work in a friendly, small town environment. All equipment, including ballistic vest is furnished.

Full-Time Pay Range: $19.15/hr - $24.99/hr; starting pay DOQ.

Volunteer Fire Fighters
The City of Jonesville is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving this community.  Prior experience is not required.  The City will provide all training and equipment.

Some of the duties of a Jonesville Firefigher:

  • Respond to any fire - Structural, Vehicle, Wildland, Etc.
  • Vehicle and Personal Injury Accidents
  • Gas and Odor Investigations
  • Hazmat Incidents
  • Citizen Assists: Animal Rescue, Etc.
  • Electrical Wires Down
  • Community Events
  • Fire Safety Education Events

Volunteer Firefighters are paid for each call, meeting, and training session that they attend.  Firefighters are not expected to leave work if their regular employment does not allow.
