JONESVILLE DDA HOSTS STREETSCAPE OPEN HOUSE
The Jonesville Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is hosting an Open House on Tuesday, August 6th from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Jonesville Police Department located at 116 W. Chicago Street. The DDA will be sharing project plans for the streetscape area of Downtown and welcoming business owner and public comments.
The streetscape is the sidewalk space between the front of the Downtown buildings and the street curb. The plans will address improvements to the sidewalk surface, street trees, landscaping, irrigation, seating, lighting, and similar features.
The improvements are expected to be completed in 2025 in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) project to resurface Chicago Street (US-12) in the City limits, and the planned road diet that will reduce travel lanes through the Downtown and improve pedestrian crossings at the Jerry Russell Trail and Jonesville Middle School.
Costs associated with the streetscape and road diet improvements are being offset by a nearly $800,000 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant.
Project engineers, representatives from MDOT, and members of the DDA will be in attendance at the Open House to discuss plans and to consider comments and concerns.
Those with questions about the streetscape project and Open House are asked to call City Hall at (517) 849-2104.
