Recreation Plan

In January of 2024, the City Council adopted the City of Jonesville 2024-2028 Recreation Plan that had been prepared by the Planning Commission.  The Plan includes recommendations for improvements to existing parks, sidewalks, and trails.  The recommendations are based on feedback received at a park open house and from responses to a parks and recreation survey, as well as comments received as part of a public hearing prior to adoption.

Maintaining an updated the Master Plan assures that the City can plan for updates to recreational facilities and programs, and will remain eligible for parks and recreation grants through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).

Parks Facilities

The City of Jonesville has two community parks. Carl Fast Memorial Park is located downtown, the park encompasses one block along the north side of Chicago Street/US-12 downtown. The park has a pavilion, benches, picnic tables and some playground equipment.

The Wright Street Park, approximately four acres in size, has a pavilion with rest rooms, tennis courts, a basketball court, playground equipment and two baseball fields.

Portions of the public parks may be reserved by families, groups and organizations.  Click on Documents and Forms in the Quick Links to view the Reservation Policies and to print a Reservation Form.

The Jerry Russell Trail is a 1.4 mile, paved non-motorized trail converted from an abandoned rail bed. The beautiful trail is enjoyed by walkers and cyclists alike and provides the first public access to the St. Joseph River in Jonesville.  The project was supported be an MDNR Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant, Don and Donna Playford, Jonesville Rotary Club, and the Hillsdale County Community Foundation.

The City operates the Sunset View Cemetery, located at the east end of town along Chicago Street/US-12.

Jonesville is also home to the Mill Race Golf Course, a privately owned and operated nine-hole course, located just four blocks south of Downtown.

Summer Recreation Program

The City of Jonesville has a Summer Recreation Program which provides activities for our youth. The largest program is baseball/softball where children between the ages of 4 and 14 are given the opportunity to play on a baseball team or a softball team. We also offer additional activities which include golf, an Activity Camp (gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, etc.), a Fun-Run and skating.

We offer more than just Baseball / Softball.  There are additional activities for boys and girls of all ages.  Also, you will not want to miss getting tickets to a Lansing Lugnuts game.  Click Documents & Forms under Quick Links to download the registration forms.  For more information about our Summer Recreation Program, please call City Hall at (517) 849-2104.
