ROSE SWORN IN AS POLICE OFFICER
The City of Jonesville congratulates Sarah Rose on being sworn in as the City’s newest Police Officer. Clerk Cindy Means administered the Oath of Office at the December 18th City Council meeting.
Rose had previously been hired by the City as a Police Recruit and was sponsored in the Kalamazoo Community College Police Academy. Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police Mike Lance introduced Rose to the City Council, noting her successful completion of the academy and licensing examination earlier in the week. Officer Rose was pinned with her badge by her husband, Adam Rose, who is a sergeant on the Jonesville Fire Department.
Officer Rose will complete several weeks of field training in the Jonesville Police Department. The City is pleased to welcome her aboard!
JONESVILLE UNVEILS NEW CITY LOGO
The Jonesville City Council adopted a new City logo at their regular meeting in November. The logo features the City’s tagline, “The Real Deal” which calls on Jonesville’s heritage as the home of the Deal Automobile.
The City’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) sought out the talents of Navigant Media to design the new logo. “Navigant’s design is modern, reflecting that Jonesville is progressive and forward-thinking,” said City Manager Jeff Gray. “And the incorporation of the Deal tagline says that we are firmly rooted in our history.” The logo’s orange and black colors are a nod to the City being home to the Jonesville Comets.
The new tagline came from a DDA contest earlier this year. Two entrants, Paul Hosmer and Jeff Rowe, suggested the call out to Jonesville’s early industrial pioneers. “We had many great entries and it made for a difficult decision,” said DDA Chair Don Toffolo. “We thought that the winning entry was clever and pithy. We liked that it incorporates a piece of Jonesville’s history.”
The City will begin using the new logo immediately, and will incorporate it across all departments, properties, and communications in the months ahead. Residents can expect changes in time to social media pages, website, print, signs, and other materials.
LEAF COLLECTION ANNOUNCEMENT
Department of Public Works staff will finish collecting remaining leaf piles at residences in the City of Jonesville on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Additional leaves and yard waste may not be placed at the street any longer and will not be collected. Yard waste collection will resume in the spring.
Crews will turn attention to street and storm sewer cleanup, and readying equipment for the winter season.
The City is pleased to be able to offer this service to its residents. We look forward to resuming the service again next year.
